In April, the women of the Women Living in Faith Blog Network (which includes me:), had the privilege of having some professional headshots taken by the talented Kalyn Cavalier.  Kalyn owns her own photography business, Cavalier Photography.  She took headshots of each of us, and also some group shots for our website.

While I was excited for the opportunity I was also dreading having my picture taken.  I do not consider myself to be “photogenic.”  I tend to tense up when the camera is turned on me.  So, as much as I appreciated the opportunity, I was NOT looking forward to it!

On the day of our early morning outdoor shoot there was a good chance for rain-and I was keeping my fingers crossed that it would POUR…but it didn’t, and I’m so glad.  We had such a great time…

Once we got to the park and set up it was decided that I would go first.  “Oh man! Lets get this over with..” was running through my mind.

Kalyn must have sensed my tension because she began to speak words of encouragement.

And…something wonderful happened…

I relaxed.

Worry can rob you of happiness, but kind words will cheer you up. Proverbs 12:25

Headshots-17 (2)

I actually enjoyed myself.

Encouragement is so powerful.

Dana and Jennifer were next up..

As we spoke kind words, the tension melted away and the beauty sitting below the surface was revealed.

You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God. 1 Peter 3:4

Kind words are like honey — sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.

Proverbs 16:24

We are stay at home Mommas, writers, bloggers, all the time Jesus seekers- in no way are we models.  But, on this day our seasoned photographer stirred and captured the beauty within by speaking kinds words of truth.

The truth is powerful.  Ecouragement is so important.  We NEED to remind each other what the truth is, because it is the cure for sickness of insecurity.

You are beautiful.

You are gifted.

You are deeply loved.

Praying you embrace the truth today and live free from the tangles of insecurity.
