Hello Beautiful Wall Art

Hello Beautiful Wall Art

Some days I clean, some days I blog, and some days I draw on the wall with sharpies…

I got this idea from a picture I saw somewhere-probably on pinterest.  I knew that I wanted to do it in the entryway of the girls room-and am so happy with how it turned out.  The initial stenciling/writing took less that 15 minutes.

For this I used masking tape, a level,  stencils(Hobby Lobby), a pencil and a silver sharpie.

First I put the tape on the wall and make sure it’s level.

Next I traced the letters with a pencil first.  Once I had the word beautiful done, and was happy with how it looked I traced it with the sharpie.  The hello is my handwriting.  (If you are wanting to try this, but are nervous about your how your free hand will come out, practice it on paper first.  Go slowly and have an idea of where you want to start and stop.)

This is what it looked like before I painted it with the gold paint:

I could have left it-the silver sharpie looked pretty.  But, I had more in mind for this daily greeting.

I have been eyeing this gold Martha Stewart paint for quite a while now.

Finally I had a reason to buy it!  All I did is just fill in the “beautiful” with the gold paint.

This took me a solid hour, which isn’t too bad.  I’m happy with how it turned out!

It’s hard to tell in the picture here, but when the light hits the gold it shimmers-SO pretty.  The next step from here is to find a frame to go around it.  I thought I had one that would work, but it wasn’t quite big enough.  Oh well, I will be heading to the flea markets soon  to search for desks to refinish for this room. 🙂

Working on the girls room has been so much fun.  For me working on decorating a room is not just about dreaming of what I want it to look like.  I love creating  spaces that will be a haven.  I want them to not only to live in a space that provides comfort, but also stirs their creativity.   A place where the truth about who they are is reinforced every time they step into it.  Knowing that they will see this message everyday makes me one happy Mom. 🙂

Blessings,

Gretchen
