Tasty Tuesday

“There is no hospitality like understanding.”

Today I’m going to share with you my two favorite ways to use a boxed cake mix! They are really easy recipes, and great for when cooking for a crowd! 🙂
The first one is my Strawberry Dump Cake. When I first started making dump cakes I used canned pie filling, but switched to frozen fruit to make it a little bit lighter.

There are only three ingredients:
1 Box of Yellow Cake Mix
Frozen Strawberries
1 Stick of Butter (OR 1 can of Diet 7up if you want to make it even lighter.)

Just 3 Ingredients!

Just 3 Ingredients!

1 Box of Yellow Cake Mix
Frozen Strawberries -(slightly thawed)
1 Stick of Butter (OR 1 can of Diet 7up if you want to make it even lighter.)

Directions:
1) Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2) Soften the butter either by leaving it out for a little bit or by sticking it in the microwave for about 30 seconds. You don’t want to completely melt it-just soften it.
3) Mix the dry cake mix with the butter. (Or pour about 3/4 of the can of diet soda in a bowl with the cake mix.)
4) Mix with a fork until crumbly.

5) Place strawberries in a greased baking dish.
6) Poor cake/butter mixture over berries evenly.

Note: The amount of strawberries and the size of dish you used is determined by your preferred strawberry to cake ratio:)

7) Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes.
Note: Baking time veries, depending on how thawed the strawberries were.
8) Enjoy!

I was going to take a picture of it when it came out of the oven, but then I forgot:)
This is really good served with vanilla icecream or whipped cream!

My second favortie thing to do with a cake mix is to make
Cinnamon Roll Waffles

I like to drizzle the frosting over them for grown ups, but for kids I plate them up like this:

They like to dip the waffles in the frosting:)
A while back I was browsing on pinterest and saw a where someone was puting refrigerated cinnamon roll dough in the waffle iron for quick cinnamon roll waffles. Of course I had to give it a try-it didn’t go so well!

After the first batch I decided to make the rest according to the instructions-those were good:) I might try them again and make sure the temp is turned down on my waffle iron.

The recipes I like the best are the ones that are really quick and really easy. These recipes are both. Give them a try-they won’t disappoint!
Happy Tuesday!

Blessings,
